Holešov industrial zone will flourish – trees, meadows and natural flood protection measures will be added

The strategic Holešov industrial zone will undergo significant changes in the coming years. An extensive project is being prepared that connects ecology, aesthetics and smart solutions for landscape protection – new greenery, a natural seepage channel and over six hundred trees will give the entire area a completely new character.
The planned modifications will mainly focus on the western and central parts of the area. The zone will not only gain a more modern and friendly appearance, but above all an environment that is environmentally friendly and pleasant for everyday life. Local air quality will improve significantly, the zone will cool down thanks to the new greenery and overall biodiversity will increase.
The heart of the project will be a natural seepage channel – an area of over 1.7 hectares, which will be created along the roads being prepared. Its task will be to capture rainwater, naturally soak it into the soil, and at the same time protect the surrounding area from extreme rainfall and the risk of local flooding. Thanks to integrated safety overflows, the system will function effectively even during larger water surges.
In addition to the drainage, extensive tree planting will take place. A total of 620 trees will be planted in three stages, including native tree species naturally occurring in the region - such as sycamore, common hornbeam, holm oak, or small-leaved linden. The project also includes three years of subsequent professional care to ensure their attachment and healthy growth.
Another part of the project will be the establishment of more than six hectares of grassy areas. Before the grassing itself, the surface will be prepared and enriched with high-quality humus soil so that the grass takes root well and creates a stable green cover.
The total cost of the project is 31 million crowns, with 11 million crowns to be paid for from European Union funds.

The strategic industrial zone Holešov is thus not only getting a greener face, but also specific tools for better water management and adaptation to climate change. According to the regional leadership, this is an important step towards sustainable development, which makes sense both from the environmental point of view and from the point of view of the quality of working and public space.
