Construction of a cycle path in the Holešov industrial zone is heading towards the finals
The planned transport artery for cyclists and pedestrians in the Strategic Industrial Zone Holešov is taking on more concrete outlines. After earlier preparatory work and partial stages, the construction of a new three-kilometer route continues, which will significantly expand the possibilities of ecological transport in the location and connect key points in the Zone with the surrounding city. This will connect Všetulská Street with the western part of the industrial zone and will lead to the roundabout intersection of Holešovská and Martinická Streets. The route will continue north along Holešovská Street to the former airport.
The project includes public lighting, vegetation arrangements and rest areas - 12 benches will be placed along the path. The construction is scheduled to be completed in August next year.
The plan is part of the wider strategy of the Zlín Region focused on sustainable mobility. The new route is intended to offer the residents of the city and adjacent municipalities a safe and ecological way of transportation to work, schools or services. It will also contribute to reducing emissions and improving air quality.
The trail follows the planned purpose-built communication in the central part of the Zone and will become a key part of its transport infrastructure. In addition to cyclists and pedestrians, it will also serve to develop the technical infrastructure of the entire area.
The total costs amount to almost 47 million crowns. The European Union will contribute 30 million to the project, the rest will be covered by the Zlín Region.
Radovan Macháček, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Holešov Industrial Zone, says about the construction: "We see the connection of the industrial zone with the city via a cycle path as another step towards cultivating the entire area. We want this space to be not only functional, but also friendly for people's everyday lives - whether they are company employees, students or residents of Holešov."
